6.3 Building Self-Esteem: Final Round

People were given the problem below and were asked to answer the question.

Unfortunately many of us have low self-esteem at times.

What is one thing that you can do to help someone believe in him or herself?

1. Between these two choose the ONE you like most?

A) At times it can be hard for you to believe in yourself especially if you have developed negative feelings like if you have nothing to offer or are unworthy of things. Only realize that you are something in this world, and just keep pushing. Always have positive thoughts and if no one believes in you, well then you believe in yourself and show people what your capable of doing. Prove them wrong. B) Give compliments! You never know what someone may be dealing with in private. It never hurts to give a compliment, or words of encouragement. For me, personally, there is no greater feeling than knowing that I have made someone proud. So I think it is important to pass those good feelings to others. Take a minute to recognize when someone is working hard, and pay them a compliment---let them know that their work isn't in vain, that someone sees their struggle and is proud of them.

A) Simple words of encouragement are among the easiest and most efficient things that we can do to help other people believe in themselves. Consider times when we’ve been in pursuit of a goal, or maybe just going through the motions of your day. How do you feel when someone pays you a sudden compliment or recognizes an attempt that you have been making? Hearing something positive and encouraging lifts our spirits, motivates us and raises our self-esteem. Getting this kind of positive feedback doesn’t just make us feel good and capable instantly, it also serves as the necessary motivation to keep us pushing forward. “You’ve got this – I know you do.” Simple and effective. Honest encouragement will go a long way in helping someone believe in themselves. B) I would talk to him and her and tell them you are someone and you mean something to someone and just because people bring you down doesn't mean you believe them. You believe what your heart says and just because they tell you that you are nothing, or not someone, don't give up on yourself.
